art house films a new film is screened
every wednesday at 4:30 in our theatre. There is a brief introduction by mr.
white, and a group discussion to follow.
this week’s film is being john malkovich, directed by
spike jones.

heart & stroke on monday after school and
tuesday in the morning, we will be selling cookies and hot chocolate with all
proceeds going to the heart and stroke foundation. 50 cents for a cookie, one
dollar for hot chocolate, or 1.25 for both.

elections Monday October 19th is
election day in Canada - Westwood will be participating in a student vote. Be
on the lookout for campaign materials and information over the remainder of the
week and be ready to vote at the polling station by the front doors on Monday October
19th from 730am to 4 pm.
dance the dance program is having a “pie the
teacher” auction this wednesday in the cafeteria at lunch. bidding starts at $3 and the highest bidder
gets to pie the teacher! the first teacher up is mr. schmeichel. later we have
mr. sdrolias, mr. penning and mr. alexiou. (and many more!)
post-secondary presentations sign up
outside of mr. fewer’s office to attend presentations by u of w, u of m and
rrcc. you can also sign up for the university fair at sturgeon heights on
november 5th.
halloween dance it’s october 29th.
tickets must be purchased in advance and will be available for $10 in front of
the caf at lunch and after school.
volunteering Any students looking for
volunteer work and who would like to get a jump start on collecting their hours
are asked to see Mr. Fewer for opportunities around the community.
ultimate Congratulations to the
Westwood varsity ultimate team for placing first in the Hold Back the Snow
tournament this weekend! This was the
first time Westwood clinched the champion spot in twelve years of ultimate at Westwood. The JV team also had a great Sunday, winning
all their games and increasing their overall rank.
girls hockey Good Luck to our girls
hockey team who take on Portage today at 3:30pm. Girls are to be dismissed for
the afternoon and are to get any assignments that they will be missing from
periods 5 and 6.
There will be a team meeting today at 12:03 pm.
volleyball A huge congratulations to
the JV girls volleyball team at the St. Mary's tournament this weekend. The
girls played great right from the start finishing second in pool play to
Selkirk, the #1 team in the province. The girls played amazing in playoffs defeating
Miles Mac & St. Mary's both 2-0 on their way to the final where they got a
rematch against Selkirk. With some great passing, tough serving and amazing
defence the girls took the match 15-13 in the third set to win the
Championship! It was a great team effort
all around! Jayda & Melissa were named tournament all stars
and Jordan was named the tournament MVP. Congratulations to the varsity girls volleyball team for making the
consolation final at their home tournament this past weekend.
