bells will be turned off this afternoon because of the matinee.

 

extreme weather   Metro superintendents check the weather in the morning and make a determination as to whether or not buses are cancelled for the day in the Metro area. -45 degrees Celsius or colder (with wind chill) is one of the determining factors. Once a decision is made to cancel school buses, a synrevoice message will then be sent out to all parents and principals. The news media is also alerted to cancellations and Division websites are updated to reflect any announcement. Parents of bussed students can then determine whether or not they want to send/drive their children to school.

 

exam schedule  the exam schedule is available in the office or online. Any students with conflicts are to see mr. braun.

week of code   a reminder to all students – this wednesday and thursday all students in the school will be scheduled to try their hand at computer coding for one hour during class. grade 9s will go during period 2 either Wednesday or Thursday, grade 10s during period 6, 11s during period 3 and 12s during period 5.

your teacher during that period will take you to the computer lab to participate. students will need to bring a set of headphones for the tutorials. this is part of a large initiative to have 10,000,000 people try one hour of computer coding during the week.   google “hour of code” for more info.

monday – pj day with cereal sorting at lunch in the caf

tuesday – wear blue for mental health awareness. creat a tye dye shirt at lunch

wednesday – retro day with rock band at lunch in the theatre

thursday – tye dye day. twister at lunch

friday – holiday wear day with rock the halls from 12-1:30 in the theatre.

 

grad clothing   if you missed the opportunity to order grad clothing, there will be another chance from january 6th-10th. orders will be taken before school, at lunch and after school in front of the office. see ms. walterson if you have any questions.

 

the event   event signup will run until friday, december 13^th. grade 12 students can sign up in the office at any time in groups of 4, 3, 2 or 1. forms will be available beside the sign-up box. please make sure only one form per group is submitted. all seniors are welcome! no groups will be accepted after the 13^th, so remember to get your group in before then.

also, any grade 12 students interested in mc-ing can audition monday, december 9^th at lunch in 206.

 

job opportunity    there is a community club job opportunity for interested students to work canteens at either Morgan or Buchanan Community Centers. 6 positions must be filled as soon as possible.  pay is minimum wage.

Interested students should see Mr. Fewer immieidately!

 

cafeteria   tuesday – tacos and mexitots, wednesday – pasta & caesar salad with create your own sundaes, thursday - christmas dinner with all the trimmings!

 

computer science week   this week is computer science week!  students will have the opportunity to spend one hour along with over 3,000,000 other students in n. america to participate in an hour of code.

 

legally blonde   Just an update for our Legally Blonde show remaining tickets for tomorrow, Dec. 11th ( 7 tix) and for Thurs. Dec. 12th (3 tix). The rest of the shows are already sold out.

There will be a special matinee performance December 10th for grade 9 students - $2/seat, with proceeds to cancer care. sign up in the office if you’re interested – first come, first served. showtime is 1-3:30, and students must remain in the theatre for the duration of the show.

 

MATH EXTRA HELP   Extra help will take place every Tues and Wed at lunch in room 115 from 12:15 to 1:00.  All students are welcome.

 

Fundraising cards   All Safeway/Rona fundraising cards and money are due back to your coach by this Friday, December 13.  Remember that there are 2 samsung tablets on the line for the top sellers.

 

broomball   if you like having fun, missing school, and raising money for a good cause – kidsport - , then sign up for our annual broomball tournament on december 19^th. Return your sign up sheet to the folder outside of the gym.

 

girls hockey   Please excuse the girls hockey team Monday at 250 for their game at kw. We hope to see lots of fans out as we take on the second place team.

 

cheer   Congrats to the Cheerleading for placing second in their competition over the weekend.  The team has worked very hard and they performed an excellent routine.

All JV girls basketball players must attend a brief but very important basketball meeting at lunch in ms. Eyjolfsons room!  the girls have their first game of the season at 430 at home against St Mary's.
