evita   Join us for a captivating and magical show, as Westwood Collegiate Musical Theatre proudly presents "Evita".  Featuring the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, the show tells the tale of eva Peron and her rise to fame.  December 6th -10th at 7PM at the Westwood Theater (360 Rouge Rd) Tickets available online:


 

bikes   students should have “u-locks” on their bikes to prevent theft.

 

addictions awareness   Did you know that this year from Nov 14-18 is Manitoba addictions Awareness week?  It is a week that promotes conversation and learning about addictions - something that is often hard to talk about.   Just in case you were not aware you have an addictions counsellor in your school and her name is Candy Burke.  Questions are always welcomed and always confidential.

cafeteria   thursday is pick a poutine day with vegetarian and gluten free options.

 

lunch & learn   Lunch and Learn continues Nov 15th with a presenter from the Naval Reserves. He will be speaking about all departments of the Canadian Forces; Navy, Air Force and Army. He'll discuss regular forces and reserves and the training and job opportunities that come with each. Please sign up in Student services. Upcoming: Nov 29 - Trades and Dec 15 – Police.

 

drawcember   enter to win – there are information posters around the school. images must be submitted to the art room on or before december 9. you can use pencil, pencil crayons, pastels, charcoal…but no ink!  enter as many times as you like. prizes are displayed by the office.

 

make club   Are you interested in 3D design such as character modelling, jewellery or parts design, 3D printing, coding, electronics, robotics, drones, CNC, and automation? Do you like to make stuff like you might see on pinterest or instructables? Do you want to learn to control LED lights to add to your projects? Have you heard of Arduino and Raspberry Pi and want to know what they are and what they can do? Do you have a cool idea for a project, but don't know where to start? Do you want to meet new people and share your ideas? If so, come check out Make club. Where you can do all of the above and more!

Come to room 218 at 3 30 on Thursdays, or talk to Mr. Johnson.

 

joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat   grade 9 and 10 students who want to audition need to get the edmodo code from posters in the school. auditions take place dec. 15th.

 

europe trip   a reminder to all participants that all forms have to be handed in to mr. aguirre, even if your passport form can’t be completed.

 

rock the halls   it’s december 22nd. the sign up is on the student council board in front of the office until thursday, november 24th.

 

craft sale   The sign-up sheet for the grad craft sale is now up outside of room 207. We need as many grads as possible to volunteer for this event. Please come by and check the schedule and sign up for one or more shifts on the weekend of November 24-26.

we are looking for donations of baking and silent auction prizes to complement the craft/bake sale. more information is available on our website.

extra help   room 117 is open tuesdays and wednesdays from 12:15 to 1pm for extra help and study time for all subjects! 

 

athletes of the month   Congratulations to Nate and Jayda who were selected as Athletes of the month for October.

 

volleyball   3 of our volleyball teams have qualified for the wwac final 4. our vg play tuesday at 5pm. all games are at shaftesbury.

 

basketball   Any girls in grades 9-12 interested in playing basketball this year come on out to an open gym this Tuesday from 8-9:30. Tryouts will start next week.

Any JV boy interested in trying out for the basketball team who is not playing volleyball, there will be a tryout on Wed at 5:30pm. Please see Mr. Schmeichel if you have any questions.

 

hockey   Just a reminder that there will be dryland today at 2:40pm in the fitness centre.
