language and culture trip   there are limited spots available for students who wish to attend the 2017 trip to france, spain and italy. contact mr. aguirre or mr. alexiou if you’re interested.

Our first Europe 2017 parent meeting is on Tuesday, October 18th at 18:30 in the Theatre. All parents must attend. Contact Mr. Aguirre if your parents can't attend.

 

try-a-trade   grade 11 and 12 students are invited to sign up for an opportunity on Nov 2 to try out various trade skills. This takes place at Red River and is run through Skills Canada.  See Ms Bennett for more info or to sign up before Oct 17th.

 

extra help   room 117 is open tuesdays and wednesdays from 12:15 to 1pm for extra help and study time for all subjects!

 

wcaag   The Westwood Collegiate Arts Advisory Group, which is a parent group the supports the performing and visual arts in the school, will have their annual "meet and greet" on Thursday, November 3/16 at 7PM in the drama room. All parents, experienced and new, are invited to attend!

 

Wear purple   Wear purple on Monday. October 17th to remember the GLBTTQ students who have been harassed to the point of suicide and to help send the message that the bullying and harassment has to stop.

 

picture retakes   are october 28th in the morning. pictures must be returned, or there will be a $5 fee.

 

take your kid to work day   for grade 9s. it’s november 2nd. if you didn’t yet receive a form, pick one up in the office. they are due back to your english teacher asap.

 

indiginous students   Attention all grade 10, 11, and 12 Indigenous youth: Are you interested in a career in business? In.Business is a mentorship program that offers youth the opportunity to experience different aspects involved in a career in business before you commit to a post-secondary program.

 

The program is made up of business challenges facilitated by mentors, with a two- day opening conference here in Winnipeg, and a closing conference in Saskatoon at the end of the year. All expenses are paid! There is also an opportunity to win a $1000 scholarship.

 

For more information, come pick up an application form from the office. Deadline to apply is this Friday.

grad clothing    grad clothing will be available to order from Oct 20th - 26th in the morning, at noon, and after school in front of the office. Please see website and posters around the school for further information.

 

the event    anyone interested in being a co-chair for The Event this year must attend a meeting in room 204 at lunch on Tuesday, October 18th.

 

apex   meet today after school.

 

inktober   students who love to draw with ink should take part in inktober.check out the posters around the school or see mrs. teichroew in the art room.  prizes will be awarded – they are on display in front of the office.

 

blood donor clinic   on october 26th at lunch, the blood bus is coming to pick up students who are over 17.   you can sign up in the office.

 

what’s your type   canadian blood services will be here october 19th at lunch so that students 17 years or over can have their blood typed.

 

2016/17 yearbooks   if you haven’t yet ordered a yearbook for next year, order online asap.

 

remind app   go to our website to sign up for grade-specific notifications from our student-services department. parents can sign up as well.

 

indoor track   meeting wednesday at lunch in the fitness centre.

 

volleyball   Congratulations to the varsity girls for another amazing weekend. They won their home tournament this weekend by defeating the #1 team in the province from St. Mary's in a thrilling 3 set final. It was a great team effort and the girls should great determination and never gave up.  Come check them out tonight here at 6:30 as they take on Portage.

our jv boys finished second in their tournament in winkler.

 

boys hockey   meeting today at noon – compulsory.  all paperwork must be in today in order to drive.

 

girls hockey   Congratulations to the girls hockey team who placed second in the Springfield tournament this past weekend.  Just a reminder that the team has pictures today at KW and will need to be dismissed at 3 pm.
