Our school has set up this blog for our daily announcements. Those interested can go to the following site and sign up to get our announcements sent directly to their email account.


late starts  they will begin october 1st – morning classes begin at 9 am.

grad committee   The first grad committee meeting will be at lunch hour on Tuesday, Sept 24th. Please bring your lunch.

remembrance day   Any cadets interested in participating at this year's Remembrance Day services are to see Mr. Braun.

day of pink  on friday, September 27th, westwood will be having a day of pink. we will be collecting donations in front of the office throughout the day to help cover the costs of tracey herms’ cancer treatment. tracey is the mom of two of our westwood peers, and her oldest daughter graduated last year. please show your support on this day by wearing pink and dropping off a donation in front of the office.

yip   meet friday at 8 am

MONEY - FREE MONEY!!!!   Is available for students looking for work at several interested local employers. Please see Mr. Fewer if you are interested.

santa claus parade   Come Volunteer for the Santa claus parade!  lots of different positions are available, such as Parade Marshalling, Flag Bearer, costume walker (wear a costume and walk with the parade), etc. Come out have fun and see Santa, and the parade floats up close. Parade is November 16, spots are filling up quick so sign up soon.

CARDBOARD BOAT RACE   Cardboard Boat Race - October 16, 2013 @ 17th Wing Fitness and Recreation Facility. For Grades 10 - 12.  Armed with cardboard, duct tape and a few other odds and ends, students will
design and construct a boat and participate in both a boat race and weight challenge in a pool. This program is extremely popular and space is limited.  Please see Mr. Braun if interested.

job opportunity   d’jays is looking for help for the following positions: Dishwasher, Phones, Salad Prep, Hostess, Line Cook. apply in person at the restaurant.

MATH EXTRA HELP   Extra help will take place every Tues and Wed at lunch in room 115 from 12:15 to 1:00.  All students are welcome.  If there are any grade 11 and 12 students that are interested in tutoring, you can see Mrs. Nemetchek about available opportunities. contact mrs. nemetchek at jnemetchek@sjsd.net if you are interested in math tutoring.

boys hockey  

girls hockey   Just a reminder that the girls are to be dismissed at 11:30 am for their tournament tuesday.  If you do not have your red jersey you must see mr hiebert before you go.

Cross country   Congratulations to the Cross country team on a good performance yesterday, especially to Tyson Langelaar who placed fourth in the JV boys race and Kyle McCoy who placed fourth in the Varsity boys race.  Practices are Wednesday and Thursday after school.

cheerleading   Regular pom practices start this week running on Tuesday morning 7:20 to 8:15 AM and Thursday nights from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.

basketball   there will be a meeting for any girls interested in junior varsity or varsity basketball this year Thursday at lunch.

volleyball    Big congratulations to the varsity girls volleyball team for beating the number 3 ranked st. Mary's flames last night in three straight sets.

boys soccer   Try-out #2 will be on Wednesday at 16:15. Please see Mr. Aguirre (Rm. 209) if you can't make it.
