grad picture retakes    grad picture retake are march 14. sign up sheet is now up outside room 207. If students bring their proofs, they do not pay for the sitting fee again. New picture takers require a payment of $60 make out to Westwood Collegiate.

 

event   formal practices will take place tuesday and wednesday at lunch. see the sign outside the dance studio for details.

every grade 11 student is asked to donate 2 dozen dainties to the event. they can be delivered to the home ec room between 9 and 3 on friday.

Job opportunities   Sunday March 30th RONA will be hosting their annual spring job fair. On site interviews will take place from 12-5 for part time, full time, and summer positions

 

Rotary Opportunities   The Rotary Club has 2 travel programs for students who have a passion for learning more about science and technology or politics and citizenship. Adventure in Citizenship and Adventure in Technology Programs are one week travel workshops in which students will be immersed in learning experiences in the given topic.  For more information, please see Ms Bennett by Friday March 13th.

This year, there will be assigned seating, $13 per ticket, $90 for a table of 8. Tickets will go on sale in the library on Monday, March 10th, 2014. The Gallery will open at 5:30PM, doors to the gym will open at 6pm, the show will start at 7pm. There will be a 50/50 draw as well as a door prize! Light refreshments will be provided; no outside food will be permitted inside the gym.

basketball   Congratulations to the jv girls basketball team on placing second place in the wwac conference. The girls played an amazing game and we are all very proud of you. Congratulations to Bettina and Milko for being named to the tournament all star team. Way to go girls.

The girls have a wildcard game at 6 at miles macdonald against Daniel Mac.

Thank you to the fans and teachers who came out and watched the girls on Friday. Your support was amazing!

 

girls hockey   Good luck to our girls hockey team who play their first game of the championship series. There is a bus leaving at 245 today to take fans to the iceplex. Students need to pick up a field trip form from mr Nham and return it by lunch or before the bus leaves.

There is an entry fee of 2 dollars so make sure you bring some spending money.

The girls hockey team is to be dismissed at 145 for their game.

Goals were scored by alicia who had 2 goals, lauren, holly, nikki, and claudia.  The girls play their first game on monday at 3:30pm at the iceplex come out and cheer on your warriors!!!

girls hockey   Congratulations to the girls’ hockey team who took a 1-0 lead in their semi-final series beating West K 10-3.  The girls dominated every aspect of the game and out shot them 33-18. Goals were scored by Alicia who a goal and 3 assists, Emily who had her second hat-trick of the playoffs, Haley had two goals, Holly, Kristen, and Nikki who had two in the game.

 

The girls look to sweep the series this thursday at 3:30 at river east arena. There will be a team lunch thursday in room 217.

 

basketball    Congratulations to the jv girls basketball team on their 67-58 semi final win over FRC. The girls will play in the conference final on Friday at 3. A huge shout out to Milko "makin it rain" Badasso on netting 9 3 pointers in the game! Amazing! Way to go girls and good luck in the final!

 

Indoor track & field   Congratulations to the indoor track and field team on a great performance yesterday. Some highlights were: Charleze Sinkala-Thornhill won her 200 metre heat, as did Kyle McCoy in the 800.  Tyneille Neufeld and Andrew Langelaar both had great performances in shot put as well.  Good luck to those who qualified for the championship meet next week.

A big shout-out goes out to the varsity boys basketball team for an incredibly hard fought battle against #2 Tec Voc last night. The boys were up and playing well but the Hornet's 3 point shooting was just too much in the end. The guys left everything on the court and played hard every single minute of the game. Congratulations for an amazing season boys! We're all so proud of every one of you!

 

Congrats to the JV boys basketball team on a great season.  They came out strong against John Taylor last night, but it just wasn't enough.
